South 46
To our Friends and Fans, old, new and future:
Welcome! South 46 Band is back! After a brief hiatus at the end of 2012, the South 46 Band is together again with new members and an expanded playlist of blues, rock, and rock-n-roll. Still true to our roots, the classic blues & rock sound of the Allman Brothers Band, South 46 has added new songs to our playlist. We continue to perform the best of Stevie Ray Vaughn, ZZ Top, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and now the Band has added songs by Stevie Wonder, B.B. King, Mountain, Chuck Berry, Jeff Beck.
The year 2013 brings three new members to the group: David Sierra (bass), Dave Price (drums), and Jeff Niemann (guitar) mixing it up with Band members, Steve Hancock (vocals), Dave Bailey (keyboards), Doc Ferreira (guitar) and Gary Harang (percussion). If you liked South 46 before, you will love the new sound that keeps the authentic rich, soulful quality of the Allman Brothers Band, and adds solid rock favorites of an expanded playlist that also includes an original composition, “Checkin’ On My Baby” written and arranged by guitarist, Jeff Niemann.
The tight, dynamic sound of the Band begins with the slide guitar mastery of Doc "The Doctor" Ferreira. His guitar acumen is a treat for the ears. Tapping into his experience of having played with Gregg Allman, Doc's slide technique commands the guitar to put forth all it has to excite the senses. Guitarist Jeff Niemann is the other side of the group's guitar duo, sharing lead and rhythm guitar duties with Doc. Jeff brings his considerable talent and intensity to the Band, blending his intricate fingerings in harmony with Doc's melodic stylings to produce some wonderful music. As always, there are the powerful, passionate vocals of Steve Hancock who brings the emotion and feel of the music right to your soul. Steve is as good as it gets to draw you in… you will feel it, guaranteed. Count on Dave Bailey to dazzle as his fingers walk the keyboard and inspire you to move your feet in sync. The finishing touch to the Band is the steady, rock-solid rhythm section of Dave Price on drums, David Sierra on bass and Gary Harang on percussion. The 3-Ds plus G provide intensity and the right dynamic to “stay in the pocket” and hold it down. David Sierra is the strong, solid bassist “commander-in-chief” keeping it in the groove; and, he’ll hit you with a good taste of bass vocals on La Grange as a fun treat for the crowd. Lastly, nothing is better than the riffs and chops of the percussive conversations between drummer Dave Price and percussionist Gary Harang on “Hot Lanta” and the drumming interlude of “Whipping Post.” It’s mesmerizing and entertaining, as the instruments have an engaging conversation and you are invited to listen in....a nice finishing touch for a tight Band. The music will delight the senses and compel you to dance...so please join us for a hip shaking, foot stomping good time.
